A Word About Puppy Mills...
Although it seems impossible to limit oneself to just a word or two...every dog rescue could have a multiple page website on puppy mills alone...the dogs we've taken in, the toll on the dogs, the high medical bills, the long months of earning trust...and the outrage we feel that in a time when people are more socially conscious than ever, puppy mills are still in existance and pet store dogs are still being purchased regularly.
If you truly love animals...if you care about animal welfare...if you do only one thing to make the world a more humane and safe place for dogs, PLEASE let it be NEVER, EVER buying a dog from a pet store. We know that people are told by store personnel and corporations such as Hunte that pet store puppies come from humane kennels and even from "local families." To that we say, no way. Although puppy mills may differ in conditions and numbers, they are still nothing more than factories profitting from lies and indifference to the suffering of the animals that are making their money for them.
